The new Facebook Timeline format has changed the way companies and brands market themselves. We are living in a very visual era and it’s only natural that Facebook change its format to be more visual as well.
According to a recent study by Simple Measured, a social media analytics compiler, there is a drastic increase in user engagement when timeline is applied to brand or company pages. Your Facebook timeline can act like your second website.
There are some great tools offered by the Facebook timeline format that allow businesses to present their brand in a more visual way making it very personal to viewers. Below are a couple of tips that will help your company utilize the new format to market as best you can to your viewers.
1. Attention-getting and well-branded photos
-Cover photo to represent your company image. The size requirements are 851 X 315 pixels.
-Make sure your photos and content flow to match your brand concept.
* Make sure your cover photos DO NOT include the following:
-Price or purchase info
-Contact info
-References to Facebook features or actions
-Calls-to-action
Profile Picture:
Size requirements are 180 x 180 pixels. This might be the perfect place for your company logo.
2. Events as Milestones
-This helps viewers see what is going on with the company and how they can connect and be involved with the company’s events.
3. Arrange View
-Take advantage of all the customization options for the page layout. There are 12 applications you can have here!
-There is a new tab page that allows advanced user accessibility, eliminating advertising from the page.
4. No Selling
-Don’t make your viewers feel like every time they come to your timeline they are getting a sales pitch. Timeline is about connecting with your viewers not just focusing on a sale.
-There is now a way for viewers to message your company personally. This is a great tool to engage and connect.
5. Keep Current
-Make sure you keep your content relevant and up to date. This new format will make it obvious if you do not update your timeline with content on a regular basis.
-Make sure to highlight or move more important stories or posts to the top of your timeline.
