Facebook is growing up. The social media giant announced a number of new initiatives at their annual F8 conference this week. Among the most interesting:

It gives users more control over their privacy with new permissions for apps. You’ll soon be able to check out an app anonymously, and you can choose what info to share with apps, like keeping your friends and your birthday private.

There is also an official mobile ad network called Audience Network that allows advertisers to place ads into third party apps for better integration and fewer clicks outside of Facebook. And Facebook Business Pages are getting a big overhaul soon to make them look more like the redesigned timeline in personal accounts.
